Women in Commercial Real Estate: 3 Questions With Advisor, Robin Francis-Baker

How did SVN Trinity Advisors, Empower You as a Woman Starting in the Commercial Real Estate Business?

When I first joined SVN and commercial real estate, Steve
Fithian suggested I join CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) to surround myself with a network of other women in the industry. I took his advice and I have been active in my local chapter ever since. I get to see other SVN women at the CREW National Convention and at the SVN Annual Conference, we held a CREW gathering.

Why Should Women Consider a Career in Commercial Real Estate?

Diane Danielson, COO, is an accomplished woman and she is just one of many powerful women within the SVN organization. Our President and CEO Keven Maggiacomo has a vision for more women and minorities in commercial real estate and in leadership, at least 20% of the organization should be a woman and/or minority in 2020.

What advice do you have for Women Considering Commercial Real Estate?

My advice for anyone considering commercial real estate for sale or rent is to be
financially prepared and know going in it can take a couple of years before you start to make a good income. The positives are you have flexibility, you are your own boss, you have unlimited earning potential and you have control of your own future. Women should consider commercial real estate brokerage as a career because you can differentiate yourself against the competition. While more and more women are joining commercial real estate, there are still very few of us. Successful brokers are client-focused, understand their market, problem solvers, and detail-oriented.
